Visitors!

A few weeks ago we had some visitors! My mom, dad and Grandma Lowder came to visit us. They were driving to Oklahoma to see my aunt and decided to make the additional 8 hour drive to see us since they were relatively close! Wasn't that nice of them? I'm a bit slow getting this posted because I wanted to get some pictures from my dad that he took before I posted it and I just got them so I'm a bit behind!

They got here around 4:00 Monday and left early Friday morning. So, we had several good full days to do stuff.

Kenner was so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma became his instant friend and he was taking her all over the place and doing everything with her. It was cute! And it makes me laugh every time he says Grandma because of how he says it. He was a little more cautious around Great Grandma just because he hasn't been around her as much but we sure enjoyed having her here as well!

He had to get ready for bed with Grandma. And when he saw her washing her face he wanted some "cream" to put on his face as well.

The kids were enjoying bouncing on Grandma's legs. It was cute so I grabbed the camera. Then of course it ruined the moment and Kenner was no longer cooperating. This is about the best I got.

My grandma and Myer had never seen each other before. So, it was nice to have them meet and get some pictures of Myer with his Great Grandma Lowder.

Myer was being pretty nice for pictures but Kenner was a stinker. We could not get him to sit on the couch by Myer and Grandma for a picture. Here he is whining because I'm making him sit there and Myer is getting a bit unhappy as well at this point.

This one is a bit better, at least Kenner isn't whining, but now Myer is. Geesh! I also liked the picure because my Grandma had just said something and was laughing so she's got a great big smile. I thought it was cute of her!

We tried another night hoping the kids would be more cooperative with pictures and once again Kenner was being a stink. He wouldn't get his thumb out of his both. Grrrr.

Four Generations

We enjoyed going to the Riverwalk and also on a little boatride while there.

We also enjoyed shopping at Hobby Lobby and Garden Ridge. My Grandma is quite the shopper! I was able to find some things I liked to start decorating and with their help I actually got some things hung up. It's amazing what a few little things can add to your house, and do to your pocketbook, he he! Good thing everything was 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby and I went a bit crazy!

So it was a fun week of visiting, shopping, good food and fun! I'm not sure they'll be making the drive back here anytime soon. It's kinda a long trip but we are glad they made it and enjoyed their visit!

Peaceful and sweet!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE sleeping kids, especially mine! Yesterday I was making my "rounds" on the computer. Myer had been playing on the floor and soon found a comfortable spot, rolled to his side, and fell asleep. Kenner was snuggled up beside me while I was on the computer and soon I realized he had dozed off as well. So I slid over and put his head down and he took a nice little nap on the couch.

This doesn't happen very often and was just sweet to me so I got the camera. And amazingly enough they didn't wake up to the camera clicking noises as I snapped pictures. They were out COLD!

I think sleeping kids are so sweet and peaceful. I love to look at my kids sleeping. It makes me remember they are sweet even when they may not act like it during the day sometimes when they are awake.

I have always looked forward to naptime for Kenner every day. But lately I've noticed that when he has a nap then he cannot fall asleep at night very well and he's in his room playing, trying to come out, etc and I hate it. So, I've started thinking that as much as I use to like naps I may just enjoy it better to not have him nap. Then I can get him to bed by 8 or 8:30 and have a few hours in the evening to enjoy in peace and quiet because he'll fall asleep pretty quick. And I don't hear from him anymore until morning instead of it being a carried on bedtime where it seems I have no break.

But it's hard to not have a nap sometimes so like this day he just fell asleep on the couch, doing what you ask? Well, watching Cars of course. He really does love the show and especially Mac and Mater. And guess what, having had that nap on the couch, he didn't fall asleep in his bed until probably close to 11:00 last night. So, I'm not sure I like the napping business as much as I use to. Never thought I'd say that.

Nothing Really

I don't have anything specific to blog about but wanted to do a new post anyway. We have some pics we've taken over the last couple of days of the kids. These are some Wayne took the other night. Myer was just laying on the couch all ready for bed and was jabbering and being cute so Wayne wanted some pics of him while he was being happy.

Laughing

He LOVES those thumbs, fingers, whatever he can get in his mouth!

It just makes me laugh when he puts both thumbs in his mouth like this!

Kenner was enjoying a bowl of cereal before bed. He's been liking cereal lately and wants to eat it at odd hours of the day. So, he got lucky and got some before bed and Wayne decided to take pics of him after he was done taking pictures of Myer.

Open WIDE!

Wayne gets a big kick out of his facial expression in this picture. Not sure what he was doing but he looks upset about something!

And of course, gotta drink the milk left in the bowl.

So, this is just a totally random thought but today I was very grateful for drive-thru windows and that they aren't just limited to fast food. I took Kenner to speech this morning and needed to pick-up a prescription afterwards. There was a Walgreens close to where I'd be so this morning I called in to get it filled. They weren't open yet so I got the automated phone service. I usually hate not being able to actually talk to a real person but this morning it worked out nicely and I was able to get everything taken care of easily. I ordered the prescription, let it know what time I'd be there to get it, and updated my phone number. Slick!

So, back to the drive-thru thing, I was just so glad to just drive-up to the window to get my prescription. I didn't have to haul two kids out of the car (a big pain, all you mothers will agree) for just a quick stop in the store. Then on the way home I was able to once again stop off at the post office and drop something in the mail at their drive-up drop box thing and then I was off. Again a quick stop and didn't have to get kids out of the car. So, kinda silly but I wanted to mention it. Thank you drive-thrus for making my life easier with two kids! Now if they could do something like that for grocery shopping. Just drive around in your car and throw the food in. Hmmm that'd be fun!

And I just took Kenner into the potty and was reminded of one more totally random thing. Today at speech Kenner was saying stuff about cars. She knew from a previous visit that he liked the movie Cars and so said something about it and Kenner just happened to be wearing Cars underwear today and before I knew it he was pulling down his pants to show her Mater on his underwear. Yikes! I was a bit embarrassed. He was so proud to show her his Mater on his underwear. Kinda cute, but uh, gotta teach him we just don't pull our pants down in public! Gotta love kids!

Birthday Boy!

Today we celebrated Kenner's actual b-day.

We had birthday waffles!

I got the Wii back out and let him play some Mariokart since it was his birthday afterall. He loves that game and we have to take it away occasionally because of his obsession with it and now when he has potty accidents. But for the day I decided I'd let him play some since I knew he'd enjoy doing that more than anything else.

I'm not sure I could tell you what Kenner's favorite meal is and he wasn't much help either. So, I just made something that he seems to like when I make it for dinner. Steak kabobs! Hmmm.

After dinner we were ready to open presents and have cake and icecream. Since we've been potty training I hardly dress him in "real" clothes much. So he wasn't really ready for b-day pics so I told him he needed to get dressed and he had to stop playing cars.

The result. . . .

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to . . .

Goodness, you'd think he'd be a bit more excited to have presents and cake. Side note: Like my pile of sheets and towels? I make him stand there to play incase any potty accident should occur.

Looking so big

Kenner was scared of the candles on his cake. He kept saying they were hot and he didn't want to be by them. I don't get this kid sometimes. So, we had quite the challenge getting him by his cake for a picture and to blow out the candles.

Eyeing the cake

Wayne finally had to sit with him and help out. Silly boy!

Opening presents

Showing off his gifts and trying to show he is 3 - uh not quite.

Trying again to get 3 fingers up, kinda hard.
His new liking for Cars stuff came at a good time right before his birthday. So, I was able to find him a few Cars things; a book, coloring pad, and magnet board thing. He also got some other games, books, and some more underwear!

Eating some icecream.
He wouldn't even eat the cake I made him. I think I am going to find another birthday treat option because Kenner doesn't seem to be a fan of cake. Wayne put some in his bowl and he wasn't too happy about that. So, I have alot more cake then Wayne and I can finish. Anyone want some?

Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kenner, we love you and look forward to another year. It'll be fun to see what this year brings for him!

Pre-Birthday FUN!

Kenner will be turning the BIG 3 tomorrow (Sept. 2nd)! We decided to do a pre-birthday activity on Saturday and take him to Six Flags to go on some rides and to the water park before it closed for the season. We had a great day! Here's some, ok maybe alot of, pics of our day!

RIDES

I've been wanting to take Kenner on this little roller coaster the last couple times we've been at Six Flags but we never had until this day!

He's holding on to me for dear life (you might have to click on the picture to get it bigger so you can see his facial expression).

He didn't seem to fond of the ride, but when it stopped he didn't want to get off and asked for more. Silly boy! So, then he went and got on again with dad. They were lucky and got to go around 4 times. The ride operator only let me go around with him twice.

Let's do this again!

Wayne of course wouldn't let him hold on to him and kept trying to get him to put his arms up in the air.

The last go around he succeeded!

He loves this car ride but it's hard for him to get that pedal down so he can go anywhere.

This is how Myer past most of the time. He chews on everything and anything.

They had some of these boards with face cutouts by the rides we were going on. I thought it'd be fun to get a few pics with our faces in them. We don't have tv right now so were unable to watch the Olympics that I seemed to hear everyone talking about. So, this is about as far as our Olympic spirit got.

After Kenner saw Wayne making this face in the thing he went back and was trying to do the same face!

Catching a snack while we waited for the water park to open.

SWIMMING

Get ready . . . .
Yikes, it's gonna be cold

Ok, maybe it's not that bad
(i just hate getting wet for the first time)

Then Kenner got brave and started going down by himself

Wayne was enjoying taking some pictures throughout the park of different things he came across.

Here's a little squirrel Kenner spotted.

And some pretty flowers!

Well, we had a great day and look forward to cake, icecream, and PRESENTS tomorrow!
