Feeling Crafty

So I got feeling a bit crafty today which is strange for me because I really am just not a crafty person. That is not something that comes natural to me and even the simplest of crafts I somehow complicate.

We put our tree up on Monday for FHE. We got as far as getting the tree up, the lights on, and the Angel on top. Yesterday I didn't add the rest of the decorations and was gone that evening. So, today I decided the tree needed fixed up. I got out the decorations and had fun decorating the tree. I just love Christmas trees all decorated pretty and the lights glowing. It just makes me happy!

I guess getting the tree all fixed up started this crafty mood. I have this half wall between my kitchen and family room so I like to put stuff up on it and was wanting something Christmasy to go on it. Well, in my box of Christmas stuff I had this craft that I started, oh well, I guess it was like 3 years ago when we were in Rexburg. Yes, you heard me right, 3 years ago. Does anyone else have unfinished projects that sit around that long?

Well, I did, until today! I had these three little tree things that we made at a Relief Society function. They were cute little trees and I was excited to make them when they had the sign-ups out these many years ago. They didn't look too complicated and really aren't but you know me, I complicate everything. I remember the night of the craft I got the blocks painted and started to tie the branches on which were pieces of torn material. It was taking me forever to get the things tied on that night because it just didn't "look right" to me and and everyone else had theirs looking oh so perfect. So, I think I got frustrated and had a hungry baby at home so I left the craft night with my unfinished project. It seems I attempted to finish it at some point over the last three years but never did. That is why it is not good for me to leave an event until my craft is 100% done because it just won't get done. . . . for three or so years!

So today I finished my trees. I got all the material tied on, hot glued the stars on top and some buttons down the center. Then I got a bit creative and made a bit of a button design on the block to spruce it up a bit. Go me!! :) Here they are.





While I was at it I decided to get the Santa bowl craft out that I started last year at another RS function and finish hot gluing it together. That was only from last year so that wasn't too bad, right?

Here is my Santa. Now I just need to get some candy to put in his belly!

So, those are my crafts. It feels good to have them actually finished and I like having a place to put them here in my house. Wayne is going to be AMAZED when he comes home to find them actually done. I can't wait!! I am currently up on my crafting!

A friend had a cute post on her blog of some little trees she made with little red and green mints that maybe I'll attempt to make while I'm in this crafty mood. That is if I make it to the craft store. So, we'll see!

Our Thanksgiving!

We had a nice Thanksgiving here at our own home this year. We had the neighbors over and shared a wonderful meal with TONS of leftovers. After we got done eating I thought it looked like we had hardly made a dent. Now I have a better idea of how much food we may need for future Thanksgiving dinners depending on how many are eating. But the food was good and made for great leftovers. And it was fun to share the holiday (and the cooking! :), thanks Michelle) with some friends and get to visit a bit as well.

This was actually my first time cooking a real big turkey. And I have to say getting the thing ready was kinda disgusting to me. It was a little too close and personal for me. I was glad to have that part over with and get that thing tucked away into the oven. It sure looked alot better after cooking a bit and browning up! Since it was my first time I of course had to get some pics of the event.

Ok so this is how I really felt, well kinda. I was trying to pull a face of disgust but this maybe looks more like I'm mad. Wayne was taking too long to snap the picture so it was hard to hold the disgusting look face!

Myer had a rough Thanksgiving. He's been teething and also got a big canker on his tongue which made him not want to take a bottle for about 4 days. He'd take his morning bottle but the rest of the day he'd get pretty upset if I tried to give him one. It was a rough week and thankfully on Friday he started taking his bottles regularly. Now he has a cold, poor guy. Here he is in a happier moment. . . . eating a car.

Wayne likes to get into the after Thanksgiving shopping. He went and purchased an ad that morning and looked it over. It wasn't until later that night I was able to look through the ads and we were able to make our "game plan". Well, unfortunately with only one real team member that can go at a time it basically leaves Wayne to fend for himself.

He almost camped out at Best Buy that night. He was in it for a Blue Ray Disc Drive to go in the computer. Best Buy does this thing where they'll go through the line a few hours beforehand and give a ticket to each person for what they want. Once the tickets are gone that is it and if you don't have a ticket, sorry! With this in mind Wayne quickly changed his game plan and decided he wanted to camp out. He got out there around 10:30 or so to find to his surprise a line already going around the building! What a joke. He soon realized that the drive wasn't that important and he'd rather be at home in bed with his honey then camped out all night. He'd just get up early and go around 6:00 and if it was still there, great, if not, well I'm sure he'd find another way to get one!

Well it ended up being a better choice to come home and get a goods night sleep in a warm bed. He got up around 6:00 and went to find plenty of drives. And he was able to find the other items he needed still there and make it over to Target to get the last hot wheels track we wanted for Kenner.

Later that day, we came very close to purchasing a couch, but didn't. And I discovered that Kohl's is my new favorite store. I went a bit crazy there and found some fun toys for Myer. We were having a hard time finding anything we really liked for him. Maybe I just hadn't looked good enough at other stores but Kohl's seemed to have some different things I hadn't seen before. So, I just had a grand ol' time there buying stuff and having it ALL be on sale. I love sales! So, all in all it was a great holiday. Now back to work and the regular everyday activities, sigh!

(Ok that copied kinda funny and I tried to retype it but it still has white behind most of the text. I'm not sure what is going on and don't want to fix it but you get the idea!)

Is this normal?

My experience with "the dentist" since we have moved here has been a bit weird for me and I'm still trying to find a good ol' friendly family dentist like I was use to growing up.

My first experience with a dentist here was just weird and to me not normal. I had one appointment to be examined and get a treatment that I didn't necessarily need and pay a bunch for it. Then I had to come back a totally different time for the actual cleaning. I'm all about getting it done in one appointment. This saves me the inconvenience of having to figure out what to do with my kids for two different appointments. So, this first experience was not so good.

So, we found this other dentist we've been going to and though we aren't totally fond of the place I just don't know who else to go to and it's a pain to keep going through the hassle of moving from place to place and fill out new paperwork everytime. But I'm really wanting to shop around because yet again another weird and annoying experience has taken place with this office.

I called in last week to set up an appointment for me and Wayne. I went in and got a cleaning before Myer was born but since I was pregnant they didn't do x-rays. So, they told me to come back in after I had the baby so they could get x-rays. And it'd be about time for a cleaning again as well. Ooops, Myer is 10 months and I still haven't got my x-rays!

So I finally got us an appointment before the year ends. I was hoping Wayne and I could go at the same time and one of us could get our cleaning while the other stayed with the kids in the waiting room and vice versu. It'd be more convenient for me that way. Another pain for me with getting any type of appt. for myself is trying to figure out what to do with the kids while I go. So, this was my solution.

I was talking to the receptionist to set up the appointments. To make sure my plan would work I asked if they'd just be taking one of us back at a time. To which she informed me that they only see one person in a family per day. WHAT! You have got to be kidding me. I seriously was taken back and thought that was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. Is that normal or can someone explain any reason for that? Completely silly to me.

So, I set up our appts. on different days. The annoying thing is they could get the other one in right the next day. But that is not what I wanted. So frustrating. Has anyone had these weird experiences where your office does things like this that just don't make sense?

Well, I just had to rant a bit about this and if anyone that lives in my area can recommend a good dentist that has "normal" procedures please let me know.

Where Did the Super Stuffer Tacos Go?

When we have tacos for dinner I usually purchase these super stuff taco shells. We've come to enjoy them for they are bigger than the usual taco shell and allow more to be stuffed in them, hence the name.

Well, a few weeks, maybe a month ago, these were one of the items on my shopping list for the coming weeks meals. I went to purchase my super stuffer taco shells and to my dismay I could not see a single box on the shelf. Where in the world were my super stuffer tacos? There is usually a pretty good stock of them and they were now totally gone. Hoping they'd be back next time I came shopping, I forced myself to choose a different box. From the looks of the box I picked I thought they had the potential of being close to the same size. They at least had a wider base and were said to be able to stand by themselves.

The night we had our tacos for dinner I was disappointed to find the shells weren't much bigger and even worse they were stale. There is nothing worse then stale taco shells to ruin your dinner. It is kinda a pain when I buy taco shells because sometimes they are nice and fresh and sometimes they are a bit stale. Even my perfect super stuffer taco shells have been known to not be perfectly fresh but what can you do?

Everytime I go back to the store I look for them and they are still gone. I sure was missing my super stuff taco shells. So, this week I decided to go to another grocery store and see if they could possibly have my super stuffers in stock. And guess what. . . . . they DO NOT! How sad.


So, I guess our favorite taco shells have been discontinued in our neck of the woods.

If anyone has seen these taco shells
where they live, please let me know.

Maybe you could mail me a box or I can stock up on some at Christmas, he he! Or any suggestions on an alternative taco shell is welcome!

A Real Haircut this time!

Wayne and Kenner were in need of a haircut this last weekend. So, on Saturday we pulled out the clippers. And ALL three, yes three of the boys ended up getting a haircut.

After Myer's wing trimming a few weeks ok I thought he was safe but Wayne kept complaining about his hair. So, to Wayne's surprise, and mine, I let him take the clippers to his hair. He didn't think a little trimming with the scissors would do.

So, Myer got one serious haircut. I about died when he ran the clippers over the very top part of his hair and the longest lock of hair fell to the counter. He sat really good in the sink while he got his hair cut. The clippers didn't even scare him.

And after all was said and done, I cried. Not because it turned out bad or anything but my little baby looked different and all his hair was now lying on the counter. I guess that is why I cried, just seeing my baby change like that.

After his bath and getting him dry and in a diaper he rolled around and played all over on the floor and he just looked so darn cute so I was fine with it. So what do you think of Myer's new do?

Halloween Day!

Here is the last of my Halloween posts. I just had a few pics from the actual Halloween day that I wanted to post.

At this point Wayne wants Kenner to join the fun and dig in. Here is Kenner, hands behind his back, set face. Trying to say, "No Dad I am NOT going to do this and you can't make me."

Here is Wayne and yes he will make him. He is telling Kenner to put his hands in and grab some stuff.

Maybe I shouldn't post the rest of these pics and show what mean parents (or should I say mean dad) we can be. Wayne was the one making him do it, not me! ;) But I happily snapped pictures of all his expressions because it was so funny to me. And I have gotten a big kick out of looking at them now. So, ok maybe we were both mean! Ahh dad!

Major crying fit. Kenner seriously has issues with gross slimy things being on him. He won't do these sorts of things and it kinda drives his parents crazy sometimes.

Don't worry after cleaning his hands off he was just fine. But he was done helping with the pumpkin and kept a safe distance away and left Wayne to carve the pumpkin. He enjoyed seeing it afterwards all lit up. I baked the seeds, yummy!
