Myer is trying very hard to perfect his walking skills. He still can't go too far by himself but he's trying. Today I decided to video some of his walking and he actually went further then he has before. So, he's improving and hopefully within the next month or so he'll be running around crazy with his brother!
Sorry, I'm not sure why the audio didn't copy over with the video but there is no sound and I couldn't figure out how to get it working and I couldn't get any assistance from my technical expert at the moment.
Then here are a few pics I took a week or two ago of Kenner helping Myer walk.

New Couches and a Weird Experience
A few weekends ago we bought some couches for our front room. We'd been looking around a bit and finally decided on these ones. They were actually the ones we saw around Thanksgiving time when we went out looking. But now they were $200 cheaper, sweet! It is kinda nice to have some actual furniture in there instead of some boxes in the corner! It makes it feel more homey. We got some end tables and a coffee table as well but they won't be ready until the end of April.
So, now that I actually have something in that room, it is time to start decorating! We are going out this weekend to look at paint. I'm kinda leaning towards a tan color for the room? Any other color suggestions? It'll be fun to see the room take shape as we paint and hang some stuff on the walls. So for now this is what it is looking like with just the couches.
Today we had a kinda funny experience happen with the couches that I can't help but mention. When our couches were delivered a few weeks ago I noticed that towards the bottom of the sofa there was a screw sticking out of the fabric. Not good. So, I showed it to the guy and he put it on the form and told me they'd be contacting me in like 10 or so minutes after he called in. He said they would just come and swap out the couch for a new one. Well come the next day I hadn't heard from them so I gave them a call. Instead of getting info of when a new couch would be delivered she was scheduling a time for someone to come out and look at it. Don't you just love how they do that?
So, this Monday the guy came. I wasn't home so Wayne talked to him. It is such a small area but the screw poked through the fabric so he'd have to undo a bunch of fabric and who knows what to fix it and he told Wayne that they'd just send us a new couch and to expect a call in 3-5 days. Well, now it is Friday and we still hadn't heard from anyone (see a pattern) so I was thinking I was going to end up calling them again when a package arrived.
Well, the crazy people sent us a bunch of fabric and one was stitched together like it went over the arm of the sofa. WHAT!! Ok what is this? Are we suppose to fix this ourselves? So, Wayne got them on the phone. The lady said that the guy said he could fix it. Even if he could, why are they sending the fabric to us without any explanation of what this was for? Wayne let her know that the guy told him he couldn't fix it and we'd be getting a new couch. She didn't seem too happy about replacing the whole thing but Wayne let her know what was up and she saw we had the delivery of our tables later next month and asked if it'd be ok to send it then.
Anyways, just weird don't you think? I don't think we'll be buying from them again.

Scrapbooks!
I mentioned in a previous post that I was working on a book for Myer in Shutterfly. Well, I finished it up that weekend and last Monday ordered it. I received it the following Monday and it turned out pretty good. There were a few pics that could've used some color correction (oops!) and one of the page backgrounds I had used that looked kinda like a tan brown background with cream grooves in it, actually turned out being like a yellowish lime green type color. Unfortunately, I used it on maybe 4 or so pages and wasn't too fond of the actual color. So, those were probably my main issues but other then that it turned out great and I'm just so happy that I am up to date on a book for Myer.
Getting his book done inspired me to get out my stuff and start working on Kenner's book again. Since last Monday I have completed 26 pages in Kenner's book and I am pretty close to finishing up his first year as well. I have maybe 15 more pages to go to have his 1st year done. Then I need to work on making a book for his other 2 1/2 years of life but I will definately be doing that online! I am just bursting with excitement over this fact because it has taken me 3 1/2 years to get to this point and I'm just happy I finally am getting it done. It makes me feel good. And I've been enjoying the project that it has created for me lately. So, I gotta stick with it while I am in my groove!

A new look!
It has been raining here alot lately. In fact a pretty LOUD and I mean LOUD blast of Thunder hit the other night around 2:30 a.m. and sent Kenner screaming and running out of his room. He then refused to go back to bed and insisted on sleeping on the couch. The continual thunder, lightening lighting up our house and sound of the downpouring rain frightened him. I hate when it storms at night because sometimes Kenner sleeps through it and sometimes he doesn't. And I hate when he doesn't.
Anyways, the reason for this post is because I guess with all the rain lately Kenner was getting a bit worried about his pants getting wet outside! Ok, not really but I got a good laugh out if this today. I had pulled some pants out of the closet today and told him to get them on. He brought them out to me and asked for some help. So, I go to pull them up and couldn't help but laugh! Here is why:

Ya, they are a bit short. I don't believe it is the fashion for men or little boys to wear capris is it?

So, these are Myer's pants. I thought I had accidentally pulled them out of the closet for him to wear but when I went to go put them back and find some that fit I found that he had just grabbed Myer's which were sitting on the floor by his. So, it made me laugh. Funny thing is these are 9 months pants and although they are a bit short they fit around his waste about perfectly. That is always my problem with him and his pants, they are always falling off him and he's always pulling them up. He needs to fatten up!
And, here's just a cute pic I took of Myer the other night. He was eating cheerios and had dumped them all over the floor. I grabbed my camera to get a pic because he was kneeling over the pile of cheerios trying to eat them up with his mouth on the floor like a dog. I thought it was kinda funny but the second I got the camera out he quit doing it and was more interested in getting the camera from me. I hate it when that happens.Posted by Erin at 12:07 PM 10 comments

We are still here!
So, it really has been a long time since I posted last. Sorry to any of you looking for an update. I know I hate it when people don't update things for months and months and now I am doing the same thing. Shame on me.
I guess I just really haven't had anything interesting to share so I just haven't shared anything at all. So, although this is finally a new post it probably won't be all that interesting.
Life is good, and nothing too exciting is happening. Since Myer's birthday this is about what I can think to tell you that may give you a bit of an update. But again probably just useless information all in the name of getting a new blog post up, sorry!
I started working on a scrapbook for Myer on Shutterfly the end of January. I absolutely love this method of scrapbooking. I think it is now the only way to go. For several weeks this was my big project. I went through and got every picture ever taken of him that I could possibly want to use and put it in a folder on my computer. I then copied all of this onto Shutterfly and had like 600+ pics. YIKES!! I've put together a 12 X 12 album for him with 60 pages in it! After a few weeks of working on it diligently ALL the time I kinda lost my original enthusiasm. But it is pretty much done and I have a 20% off coupon from Shutterfly waiting to be used by like the 16th of this month so I need to wrap it all up and get it sent off to be published. I'm quite excited to have finished a book for Myer and now need to get working on Kenner's book which is now 3 years behind. This is why Shutterfly is the way to go for me; I got a book done for Myer in a few weeks what has taken me and is still taken me years and years to do for Kenner.
Myer is trying very hard to walk. He cruises along the furniture like crazy and is quite speedy. He is finding more and more things to pull up to such as the walls and the kitchen island to allow him to walk further. He's taken a step when I hold my hands out to him but he mostly just dives for my hands with his. He will hold onto our hands and walk as well. So, he's working on it and hopefully will be walking soon. Then it'll make being outside with him a bit easier and harder!
Wayne recently started a new work schedule where he works four 10's and has Monday off. So we are enjoying having that extra day to go out and do things.
We all had the flu about 2 weeks ago. That is the first time I have ever experienced having a sick family like that, it was interesting and not too fun. Myer didn't quite get everything we all had but he did have a bit of a yucky tummy. So, I was glad when that was all over and hopefully it will be awhile before we ever experience that again.
We have eaten at Olive Garden I think once a month so far this year. We went in January, went in February for Valentines's Day, and went last week to celebrate our nice tax refund. Hmmm gotta love Olive Garden. And with our anniversary coming up next month we may be going again. Then we may just have to take a break, I'd hate to get sick of that place.
I LOVE American Idol. I have never really gotten into any show but this one. Last year I watched it and now I am hooked. I just love it and hate waiting from week to week to see more!
So, pretty much life is same old and that is about all I can think to say. Sorry this isn't too interesting or exciting but I just thought I better post something new. And because you just can't do a post without pictures even though these will all be unrelated I will post a few pics. I haven't really taken much in the last bit so again another reason no blog posts. Hopefully life will get more interesting and I"ll have more to blog about soon!

We did make a trip to The Alamo to take Flat Stanley there for Wayne's little brother. We just happened to go on the same day they were doing a reinactment. So, we got alot of pictures of the people all dressed up, and it was kinda fun to see everything they had going on.

There were so many people we just kinda had to snap a picture the best we could unless we wanted to wait for who knows how long for things to clear up. So it was kinda a far away shot.
Didn't want Kenner to feel left out so we got one of him too. Not as messy as Myer but he still has issues! :)

Birthday Boy!
We celebrated Myer's 1st birthday today. I really can't believe it has already been a year. We didn't do anything too exciting. He started his day getting woken up to all of us in his room shining a camera in his face. So nice! He handled it pretty well. We had to get ready for church and have time to eat some birthday waffles. He enjoyed those! He's been a pretty happy guy most of the day, very squeely, I guess he was excited!

We gave him his new toy play table thing after church. He has had fun with it except when Kenner closed the laptop thing (I'm assuming that is what happened since I didn't see it) and pinched his finger. Boy Kenner is really benefiting from having a younger sibling! :) He loves all these new toys as well!

And soon after dinner we had some cake and icecream. I thought he was totally going to love this part. He loves to eat, loves to feed himself finger food, so I thought he's just totally going to sink his hands in this cake and go to town. Well, I was sadly wrong. I put the whole cake in front of him with his little candle for some pics.

Well, he didn't waste anytime and started digging into the frosting.

He took a few good chunks out and seemed to be really enjoying himself. But then . . . . . .

. . . . . he just got mad. And no he was not crying because I took the whole big cake from him. I'm not sure if it was like frosting sugar overload or having it all over his hands but he was not happy. So, by the time I got him a slice of cake he wanted nothing to do with it. I was kinda sad. He wouldn't even touch the thing. Then dad brought over a taste of icecream and he was liking that. I let him play with the bowl for a bit and he enjoyed that but when he stuck his hand in to get some icecream he didn't like the cold. So, needless to say he was kinda ornery about eating his cake and mom was a bit disappointed. Here are a few pathetic pictures of how he was really feeling.

Maybe I'll see if he's interested in some cake tomorrow. But he's had a pretty good day. Happy Birthday to my little boy! We sure do love him!!

It's about stinkin' time!
So we have been waiting and waiting and waiting for Myer to crawl. Yes, you heard me right crawl. The boy has been taking his sweet little time. I think when your child is taking awhile to develop these milestones that you see so many other kids already doing that are their age or younger it takes a hit on your "parent pride". That is the best why I can think to describe it. Maybe that is silly but maybe some of you know what I'm talking about.
Anyways, over Christmas break he made much improvement and was oh so close but not quite there. He'd move forward as far has his arms would go but once his bottom half caught up he would plop his bottom half down. He has somehow manged for the last bit to kinda get around by rolling. He finally started pushing himself up into a sitting position by himself over the Christmas break and that made him even more mobile in his own way of maneuvering around. The last few weeks he has seemed to get in places that I was surprised he had managed to get to. And he's now started pulling himself up to stuff and moving his feet a little while standing there. So, he is progressing slowly but surely.
I'm glad he has finally at least figured out this crawling before his first birthday rolls around, next week!
So, without further ado here is the boy in action. I mostly wanted his grandparents to see that he's finally done it! Oh, but one more thing! The other night he had started doing this funny scoot type army crawl. I wanted to get it on tape but couldn't find a blank spot of tape. So, I got more tapes for the camera yesterday and we started to record him today and he was crawling a perfect crawl. I was amazed. You'll see it here at the start. Then I was kinda sad that maybe I'd missed the chance to get the funny crawl he was doing the day before. Well, the 2nd half of the tape when I brought out the Wii remote for motivation it's like in his determination to get to it he forgot his real crawl and reverted to old habits. So, I was happy to catch the funny scoot crawl.
He is now causing his brother some grief because he's going after his stuff and pulling his race track down, etc. Kenner will whine to me, "Myer scoot back." It's kinda funny but I'm sure after a bit of hearing Kenner whine about Myer ruining his stuff it might get a bit old. Luckily he hasn't resorted to hurting him to get him out of the way . . . .yet.
